Scientio products are diverse, but the common thread is our own research in some of the more difficult areas of Computer Science, including Machine Learning, Chaos theory, Evolutionary Computing and Fuzzy Logic .

One way of looking at the kinds of problems software is intended to solve is to split them into those where an obvious analytical solution exists, and those where no such solution exists.

Scientio are interested in the second kind of tasks. These are generally tasks where some kind of imprecision or uncertainty is involved, like 'how do you tell if someone is a good risk for a loan?' or 'how do you group these documents so we can find those that are versions of the same source?'.

Scientio's products all have the characteristic that they are directed at solving these non-analytic problems.  If you are a researcher in one of these fields, or a very competent programmer you may be able to make use of our tools and web services directly, but generally we recommend talking to us and explaining your problem. If this can be solved with our products off the shelf we'll tell you and support your developers through integration. If it can't be done without some extra work, but we think we can solve it and all the usual business stuff meshes, we'll create a proposal with detailed costings. This is generally free, unless a large amount of proof of concept work is required.  

We used to sell only expensive shrink-wrapped products, but the arrival of Web Services has meant that we can change our business model to one that doesn't require our customers to suffer a large initial capital outlay.

If you've got a bright new internet idea that can use our technology and you're a start up with the usual cash flow problems, then you can use our web services on a pay per hit basis with monthly billing. Initial costs are very low. We're happy to negotiate service pricing on an individual basis.
